2017

We’ve stayed in planty of Hostels all over the eastcoast of Australia. Some have been great, some disgusting and some weren’t really memorable. We rate from 1* (really bad) to 6* (best). Just to remember: We are both 35 years old and have other interests/requirements than 18-25 year old Backpackers… We always had double rooms, which makes a difference too.

5* United Backpackers, Melbourne, Victoria

+ bar in the ground floor for meet some other Backpackers
+ in the middle of the city
+ cool designs everywhere
+ keycard entry
+ large kitchen with cool stylish interieur and enough space for the food
– really loud from the outside at night
———-

4* Space Hotel, Melbourne, Victoria

+ comfortable beds
+ gym and movie theater
+ large kitchen – free coffee, sugar and tea
+ rooftop deck with amazing view
+ keycard entry
+ near the city
– some open food in the kitchen, smelled really bad and there have been cockroaches everywhere
– you cannot open the window, so it feels a little bit like a modern prison
———-

6* Eva’s Backpacker, Kings Cross, Sydney, New South Wales

+ very nice rooftop deck
+ fridge and tresor in double room
+ you feel like at home
+ nice new bathrooms
+ two keys for two person
+ nice and always proper kitchen
+ free coffee, sugar and tea
+ nice location (Kings Cross)
+ with night light
———-

1* Astra Motel, Manly, Sydney, New South Wales

+ Marc is a cool guy
+ nice location (near the beach)
– one key for two person
– strange people there
– really bad kitchen
– little curtyard with nasty plastic chairs
– never have seen someone cleaning
– a lot of bugs everywere in the kitchen espacially at night
———-

4* Aquarius, Byron Bay, New South Wales (Partyhostel)

+ nice location (near the beach)
+ free dinner included in price
+ double room with balcony
+ with swimmingpool
+ 500 MB free Wifi per day
– one key for two person
– most backpackers here are 18-25 years old
———-

5* Banana Benders, Brisbane, Queensland

+ great location (near bus station and greyhound, very queit)
+ very cool curtyard/terrace (every table has an energy …)
+ you feel like at home
+ nice tv room
+ all you need in the kitchen
+ great playlist all day long (remarkable!)
+ cleaned daily (!really good!)
– a little bit loud because of the street
– only 100 MB free Wifi per day
– one key for two person
– there exist better showers…
———-

4* Bunk Backpackers, Brisbane, Queensland (Partyhostel)

+ big kitchen with everything you need – free coffee, sugar and tea
+ your own bath and toilett in a double room (if you want)
+ cool location (club, bars, chinatown)
+ with swimmingpool
– only 30 min free Wifi per day
– so/to many backpackers – you’re just 1 of 200
– you cannot open the window, so it feels a little bit like a modern prison
– there is no place, where you can be alone
———-

5* Pippies Beachhouse, Rainbow Beach, Queensland

+ nice and always proper kitchen but also very small
+ free coffee, sugar and tea
+ free unlimited Wifi but very slow
+ very nice hammocks
+ double room with balcony
+ with swimmingpool
– one key for two person
– most of the backpackers are there only for one night

– tables are often sticky and grubby
———-

4* Backpackers by the Bay, Airlie Beach, Queensland

+ free coffee, sugar and tea
+ 500 MB free Wifi per day
