The gallery in front of the monastery wall was opened 1967 as a space for regional artists – especially those who do not yet have a busy exhibition programme and would like to show their work. The non-commercial gallery in front of the monastery wall has exhibited works by over 300 artists. Around 140 art-loving members support the «Galerie vor der Klostermauer».
Well-known artists have also exhibited in the gallery, but mostly before they had their breakthrough. For example Roman Signer or Oscar winner Hans Rudolf Giger.
