The building was originally built as an embroidery exchange. It is a stately building between neo-renaissance and neo-baroque. The building is owned by Wildegg Immobilien AG, which belongs to the brothers Albert and Peter Kriemler from the Akris fashion label. It then served as a bank (UBS) for over 130 years. Globus opened the largest department stores‘ in the city centre in autumn 2023.
Personally, I’m not in a financial position to shop (or eat) at Globus/Multertor. But I like looking at buildings from the inside – that’s also the reason why I went for a coffee in the new restaurant «Multertor». I like the look of the restaurant, the small alcoves, the abundance of light and the view of the Broder Fountain (Broderbrunnen). Wonderful!
PS: The illustrations of the dogs on the walls are by Massimo Milano.
