Imagine a person who is never ill… what do you think, is it possible? No? When you meet Simon, you will suddenly doubt your answer because you’ll believe him. Simon Rhyner teaches KungFu to young and old, and Bruce Lee wannabes in the middle of Saint Gallen.
There are over eight KungFu Schools all over in Switzerland opened and made by Martin Sewer (see below) but only one in St.Gallen. Simon own and supervises the studio in Saint Gallen since January 2019. He teaches every Monday and Wednesday his favorite chinese martial art – KungFu. The youngest student is 6 years old, while the oldest is near 50 years old. When I met Simon some days ago, he wore special shoes (see the picture below) and a really cool hoodie! If you want to buy them, join him in his class every Monday or Wednesday or write him an E-Mail. There are still a few spaces left, so signup for a free trial lesson and come on by!
I asked him: «When I’m shy, unsporting and inexperienced in KungFu… can I really join your class without having to worry about the reaction of the other students?» and he honestly answered me: «Yes! Of course! That is no problem at all! Everyone here has started once and will understand that.» Also it is a good sport for woman, because you will also practice self-defense!
KungFu is for anyone between 5 – 70 years of age. It is for people who wish to improve their fitness level, flexibility, coordination, reflexes, stamina, power, jumping skills, body posture, endurance and confidence level.
KungFu is a martial art, both a form of exercise with a spiritual dimension stemming from concentration and self-discipline and a primarily unarmed mode of personal combat. It has been practiced for thousands of years in China. KungFu is better than other forms of exercise for promoting health and fitness. It develops the inner faculties of vital energy and the mind. KungFu teaching emphasizes moral development as well as physical training, stressing values like respect, courage, tolerance, and reverence for life. The very nature of KungFu training is a long process of character building. You never stop learning.
Sifu Martin Sewer
The following text is by ©icmaua.com: The martial arts career of Martin Sewer began at the age of seven with judo which he practised for over thirteen years. During that time he attended various courses ranging from educational issues to kuatsu (Japanese first aid). He became an judo instructor and soon discovered that he had pleasure and a great talent working with people and conveying the various aspects in martial arts. His unstoppable thirst for knowledge led him to other areas like Karate, Jiu-Jitsu and Boxing. Over the years he attended many tournaments and championships where he won numerous titles and awards. He travelled several times to China and Hong Kong to learn more about the Chinese way of life and its culture. There he gained a profound knowledge of Chinese traditions and philosophy, which makes him a real expert in this area. Through a ten animal Kung Fu system he eventually found his way to the South-Shaolin Hung Gar Kung Fu by meeting his future master Grandmaster Chiu Chi Ling (who has played in over 80 movies) from Hong Kong. In the Year 1993 he opened the «Kung Fu School Martin Sewer» in Zürich where he personally ensures that his students learn traditional Hung Gar Kung Fu of very high quality. At the moment he teaches over 40’000 students all over the world!
