The solar cinema takes place in July/August. There are various evening screenings at dusk. The films are shown outdoors, often on Gallusplatz in the city centre or in front of the Kulturmuseum in the city park. The film selection ranges from international classics and short films to current feature films and documentaries.
During the day, solar panels collect sunlight and store it in batteries. In the evening, this energy is used to power the projection and sound system. This creates a cinematic experience that functions independently of the power grid and makes renewable energy visible.
Admission is free, but the solar cinema is weather-dependent. Deckchairs are available. If you want to be sure of a seat, you can also bring a camping chair and a blanket. Food and drink will be available on site, which will help support this fantastic festival. The open-air performances are a communal experience under the stars and ideal for summer – perfect for anyone who wants to combine cinema with the warm season.
