Soyez les bienvenus at Parisparadis! A concept store and boutique where you will find soulful things, treasures and curiosities as a tribute to vibrant Paris, but far from the clichéd Paris…
Shirin Tanyer-Heezen was born and raised in St. Gallen. After her degree in fashion design, she went to Paris, where she worked as a stylist, trend scout and designer for more than ten years.
Shirin returned to her hometown in 2011 for the birth of her son and worked mostly as a French teacher. It had always been her lifelong dream to open a concept store, so while looking for a suitable space, she came across the former darkroom of the renowned photo studio “Foto Baer” on Büchelstrasse 2. Although it had been a shop once, the shop windows and the front door were barricaded for the use as a darkroom. When Shirin took over the space it had been converted into office rooms by the following tenants. But she sensed that she had just discovered a hidden not yet visible treasure, literally a diamond in the rough. While renovating, the original wall and floor which had been covered for years, emerged, unfolding walls with original inscriptions and scribbles and a terrazzo and parquet floor. It was as if a door to another world and time had just opened.
It took Shirin more than a year to transform the space into her little paradise and her very own Paris: Parisparadis, a concept store and boutique, which she then opened for the first time in December 2023.
With Parisparadis, Shirin pays tribute to a Paris that shaped her. A Paris that is lively and vibrant, not a clichéd Paris, as we may know it from postcards that show the Eiffel Tower or a Paris which we associate with croissants and baguettes and the city of “amour”. It’s a Paris that lives from the many different cultures and artistic and creative souls that come together there and find inspiration to create. Shirin takes this Paris with her to St.Gallen and lets it blossom here. During her time in Paris, she regularly visited flea markets in search of THE objects, fabrics and materials for the styling and design of the trend books. The “chiner” (hunting, sourcing), as the French call it, became her great passion.
At Parisparadis, you will therefore not only find treasures from Paris, but also a very personal selection and collection of soulful objets that tell a story, carefully selected with love for the unique, handmade and or fairly produced: ceramics, cushions and accessories, (some also made by herself), candles, decorative objects, postcards, books, smaller pieces of furniture, curiosities, works of art and much more.
Shirin will be happy to share her insider tips for Paris with loyal clients and offers also her support and expertise in home decorating, sourcing special objects and color consulting.
