Her name is Leonie Keller, and she is 26 years old. She has been working as the manager at Krug, a small bar in the heart of St. Gallen, for 2 years. She grew up in Staad and has been working full-time behind the bar for almost eight years. She has completed two bartender courses in Zurich, as well as one in Berlin. Continuously educating herself in the field of spirits through masterclasses is also part of her routine. She has seen and experienced a lot. From participating in new bar openings to organizing gin festivals all over Germany.
Running a bar is something that should be done with passion. She believes in accepting everyone as they are, while still maintaining her own principles.
For her, the most important thing is that every guest leaves the establishment with a smile on their face.
Working in the hospitality industry has never been easy, especially for a young woman. To prove oneself and assert one’s capabilities without being reduced to just looks has been a long journey. That’s why she is even happier to be standing here today, loving her profession above all else.
Her guests treat her with respect, just as she treats them. Everyone comes together at her place. Whether it’s card players, foosball enthusiasts, people in suits, or those who simply want a plate of spaghetti. It’s simply a classic neighborhood bar.
Her favorite moments are when the place is buzzing with lively guests, almost overflowing with joy. Every day may follow the same routine, but it’s completely different with all the diverse customers.
She feels at home here because, yes, St. Gallen is a city, but let’s be honest, it feels like a small village. It reminds her of her hometown where she grew up.
She loves it.
