Alexandra got the name Lady A from a good friend back in Australia and it has followed her ever since. After studying art she realized her work always ended up on the body of someone, taking her in the direction of costume and specially the way garments and period costumes are created. After completing that course she worked at the West Australian Ballet in the costume department and after hours created custom burlesque and pole dance costumes for local performers.
After a few years she wanted to continue with her journey and it was time to come back to Europe, so she returned to the place she was born, Rorschach, and from there on to St Gallen. After helping out at the Staatstheater Stuttgart and Zürich Ballet she realized that she had to give up her dream of becoming a Head Cutter, it was financially not possible to study again.
So she returned to her art roots and continued something she started back in Australia but never really had space for. Taking her tailoring skills and blending them with her artistic visions, sometimes using discarded materials to create stunning garments, that lean into the term wearable art.
And now that she has finally found a space where she can create, it is time to take others with her on the upcycling and creating journey.
