This oriel (bay window) was created in 1904 and the relief was made by Henri Gisbert Geene a professional sculptor (1865 – 1950). On the left side you can see a woman and on the right side an old man in front of a library who’s writing a Book.
Although this bay window can not tell us such an extensive story, the depictions of Henri Gisbert Geene are worth a closer look. There is the «Youth» which is portrayed as a pretty, dreaming but intelligent girl with long hair. Her hair is tied in a braid and she is chewing on a pencil, trying to understand the world instead of concentrating on writing.
On the other hand: the bearded scribe who is bent over his writing, as if to preserve it from the bad influences of time and the questioning looks of the young student.
